This very specific (and very British) sound that Iroha deliver in spades, somehow sounding everything and nothing like former projects. It's the perfect thing for the start of a crisp wintery morning cocooned up warm near the window with a brew. (extracted from

This is the first full length from Andy Swan's new project IROHA (from Birmingham, UK). They take a lot of inspiration from bands like Jesu, My Bloody Valentine or Nadja. Shoegaze music is again the central pillar of the music. But where Jesu seems to be failing as of late, Iroha have  filled up the void marvellously. A slight lack of originality is one of the critiques Iroha have suffered, indeed their formula is nothing much new under the sun. But they have managed to mould the perfect vibe in their songs, their lyrics and titles, but also in the mix of the album (done by Justin K. Broadrick by the way). The vocals are buried nicely in the mix, the bass sounds crunchy and the layered guitars ethereal. This is exactly the sound palette a lot of us were searching / waiting for. In this type of music, they simply are at the forefront of things right now. (extracted from
